Network Status

When you get your IP addresses from a RIR, we say that you've been allocated a network. When you decide that a subnet of that block is to be used for a certain customer we talk about assigned address space. HaCi uses the RIPE model, and extends it to allow a network to have other values for the status field so as to simplify management of your address space and avoid collisions and double assignments, which are always bad.

Users that have address space from other RIRs need not to worry, RIPE definitions either have a direct equivalent or are a superset of those used by other RIRs.
